Entrada Final

The end of the program is fast approaching.  It is time to write your final blog entry and to proofread and edit your blog.  Please read everything you have written so far on your blog.  Make any changes you feel are necessary (check grammar, spelling, content, etc.).
Now write your final blog entry.  Now that you are experts at living and getting around the Dominican Republic, it is time for you to give advice to those who come here in the future. What would be your advice to them? Make a list (in PARAGRAPH FORM) of your top TEN pieces of advice. This advice could be things/places/food people need to do or try while they’re here and things/places/food they should definitely avoid. In the recommendations, you should definitely include your favorite thing/food/place/experience in the DR and your least favorite thing/food/place/experience in the DR. This entry should be a minimum of 200 words and you should include a picture.
Please post your entry no later than Thursday night (June 28th) at midnight.

Segunda Semana

You only need to post one thing this week.  You need to post a photo entry and description of your favorite spot, place, corner, street, etc. in Santo Domingo.  Your description should be between 75-100 words.

Post your entry before you leave for the free weekend (unless you like doing homework while traveling).  Post your entry and picture no later than Wednesday night.

Comment on at least one of your classmates’ entries (by Wednesday night).

Primera Semana

You have three things you need to do on your blog this week. From now on, your blog entries and comments should be in Spanish and remember to keep it appropriate for the university setting.
You need to post or comment by the date in parenthesis.
1 - Write a new blog entry. See below for details. (Tuesday, May 29th)
2 - Post a picture with a short paragraph length description. (Thursday, May 31st)
3 - Comment on two pictures and one blog entry. (Thursday, May 31st)

1. Una experiencia dominicana - For your first blog entry in the Dominican Republic you need to tell about an experience that you have had here. It can be an adventure you have had. It can be funny, happy, embarrassing, etc. It should be at least 150-200 words (you can write more if you need/want to). Don't forget to proof read your entry and add accent marks where appropriate; it might be a smart idea to write your entry in Word and then cut and paste it into blogspot. You need to post by midnight on Tuesday.

2. La foto de la semana - Each week you need to post one picture on your blog. It needs to be posted by Thursday night at midnight. It should be a picture that you took (or give credit for the picture). You need to include a description or story with the picture (short paragraph length in Spanish). Please only post appropriate pictures. You need to post by midnight on Thursday.
3. Los comentarios - By Thursday night you need to have looked through several of the pictures and commented (in Spanish) on at least two of them. You also need to comment on one blog entry. Try to comment on pictures and entries that don't already have a lot of comments and try not to send comments to the same people all the time.

Getting Started

During your time in Santo Domingo you will be keeping a blog of your experiences, progress, activities and pictures.  We will use blogspot.com (same as blogger.com) for our blogs.  If you don’t already have a blog you will need to create one.  If you already have a blog on blogspot, you can use your same login, but you will need to create an additional blog for the DR Program (you can still use the other one for personal blogging).
How to create your Blogspot
1.       Steps to setting up your blog for the DR Program
Open www.blogspot.com and click “Get Started”
Fill in the information required and click “Continue”

2.       Give your blog a title, for example “Ana Maria y Las playas del caribe”  (this can be changed later)
Create a blog address  – http:// amariaoviedo.blogspot.com  (You can use any available name for your blog as long as it is appropriate.)  (**You CAN’T change the address after you have set it**)

3.       Choose a template that you like.  (You can change this later.)

4.       Now you are ready to write your first entry.  You need to complete and publish your entry before you leave for Dominican Republic.  (Please note that you can save your entry as a draft to be able to work on it later.)

5.       Sharing your blog – You need to share your blog’s URL with the group.  Go to Canvas and post the address to your blog under the appropriate Discussion.  Please check to make sure it is the correct URL and that it links correctly to your blog.
